Probate

Making a Will tells us how you would like your assets to be distributed. The Executors of your Will are the people who have to carry out those wishes. However having the Will in their possession is not usually sufficient. They must obtain a Grant of Probate from the High Court of Justice Probate Registry Division, particularly if there is a house in the Estate.

For those who have not left a Will (who die intestate) Grant of Letters of Administration are required and if you do not want to accept the position and duties of an Executor then alternatives can be arranged.

Sometimes an estate can be administered without the need for Probate or Letters of Administration. Sometimes beneficiaries have to be traced. Perhaps some relatives are living abroad, or there is property abroad, both of which can present difficulties.

Clearing a house, selling antiques and other items, managing a business temporarily, arranging the funeral, even obtaining the Death Certificate if you are not local - these are all matters which we can deal with on your behalf.

For advice on these matters and to see if we can help you through a difficult time telephone, fax or contact Cheryl England through our Contact Page.
